DO YOU COLOUR COORDINATE YOUR FAMILY PETS WITH YOUR HOME’S DECOR?

Over the years I’ve written about, helped design, styled and decorated hundreds of kitchens and there’s one unexpected design element that always makes me smile when I see it. Whether subliminal or planned, I’ve discovered that homeowners often tend to colour coordinate their pets with their home’s colour palette. More evident in the kitchen where pets typically congregate to be close to us, it just makes sense that our family pets complement the kitchen’s decor.
Our pets play such an important role in our day-to-day lives bringing us mind and body wellness and unconditional love and happiness. In return we love to provide them with all the “creature comforts” they deserve even in the kitchen.
A great way to show them how much we care, is to consider how they live with us in the kitchen when designing this busy space. By integrating a designated area for them to eat, drink and rest not only will they stay safe and stress-free, but the kitchen will be easier to keep clean and organized.
An integrated custom food station designed to suit the size of the pets or any health issues they may have, will provide a comfortable designated area for pets to rest, eat and conveniently store toys and essential supplies.
Here are some pet-friendly designs I know Fido or Kitty will appreciate and the whole family will find easy and convenient to use and maintain.

Safely positioned away from the kitchen’s busy cooking area, Designer Elle Cantrell of Elle Du Monde tucked a raised feeding station into the end of the wood island, seamlessly integrating it into the kitchen’s design by finishing it with matching, easy-to-clean tiles and black granite.
